For established artists, one holiday album gives them a chance to re-enter the album sales charts every year, while newer performers have an opportunity for greater exposure.

Wyoming state representatives have voted to create a doomsday government task force in the event the state must self-sufficiently operate during a national economic or political collapse.

Passing on its first reading Friday, House Bill 85 would permit an investigation on issues like alternative currency, food distribution, a possible state military draft, and obtaining military aircraft.

The bill faces two more House votes before it goes to the Senate for approval.

‘To put your head in the sand and think that nothing bad’s going to happen, and that we have no obligation to the citizens of the state of Wyoming to at least have the discussion, is not healthy,’ Rep Lorraine Quarberg, a Republican of Thermopolis said according to the Casper Star Tribune.

The amendment sponsored by state Rep David Miller, R-Riverton, is said to be in precaution, notably at a time when the national debt exceeds trillion.

The house vote came the same day the Bipartisan Policy Center, a Washington DC-based think tank, released a report cautioning the national debt limit’s own doomsday to be closer than previously expected.

The BPC expects it to hit .5 trillion between late November and early January of next year.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner testified before the Senate Budget Committee last week saying the US will reach its debt limit ’significantly’ after September 30 when the fiscal years ends, but also ‘before the end of the calendar year,’ according to a Politico report.

The BPC credits the skyrocketing figures to unexpectedly low corporate tax revenues and the extension of the payroll tax holiday.

‘I don’t think there’s anyone in this room today that would come up here and say that this country is in good shape, that the world is stable and in good shape, because that is clearly not the case,’ Rep Quarberg said Friday for the bill.

Not the first state to propose the brainstorming of alternative currencies in recent years, at least 11 others have proposed legislation for their own legal tender in the instance federal dollars become worthless.

‘I think we’re in the process of inflating a dollar bubble that could be very devastating,’ said North Carolina Representative Glen Bradley, R-Youngsville, early last year during his own legislative proposal according to the News Observer.

In addition to North Carolina, lawmakers in Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Utah and Washington have also proposed legislation in accepting currency of silver and or gold.

The proposal of the hard metals and not paper bills follows in accordance with the US Constitution, in Article 1, Section 10, reading ‘No state shall … coin money; emit bills of credit; make any thing but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts…’

None of the states’ proposed bills have thus far been successful.

Wyoming’s proposed task force would be made up, among others, of state lawmakers, Wyoming’s Department of Homeland Security director, the state’s attorney general and its National Guard’s adjutant general.

The proposed bill originally appropriated ,000 for the emergency task force but was cut in half earlier this week by the Joint Appropriations Committee.
