Posted on December 02, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

There are lots of hot cars in the market today that can excite just about any car enthusiast, and they come in all shapes and sizes – from top of the line sports cars that cost in excess if ,000,000 (like the incredible Bugatti Veyron sports coupe), to smaller compact sports coupes (think Mini Cooper) that cost significantly less. Which one is right for you depends on your style and, of course, your wallet!

Since the sports car came on the scene, it remains the best selling line of every car manufacturer that produces any version of its kind. Because of the sports car’s desirable appearance, extravagance, and the lifestyle it portrays, every driver takes a serious look at ownership at some point. To rev up your interest and whet your appetite, here are some top sports models worth a look:

1. The Aston Martin DB9 Volante has smooth lines and refined features similar to the Jaguar, but is clearly its own car. The DB9 sports more of a classic design and packs a punch with its 6-liter and 450-hp V12 engine that can get your noticed in a hurry while satisfying your need for speed.

2. The author’s personal favorite, the Chevrolet Corvette Convertible features up to 400-hp with smooth handling and suspension that’s ready for the racetrack. It is much more affordable than comparable cars with its price of ,000. The pricing is low compared to other sports cars that have similar features and performance. The current edition of the Corvette is still the fastest in its class and remains the undisputed “King of the Road”.

3. The Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Roadster comes equipped with an awesome V12 engine lurking under the hood, capable of producing an incredible 604-hp. With an exotic look and design sure to turn heads, this car can rip the paint off of the competition with its raw power and speed.

Buying A Used Performance Sportscar 0

Posted on November 26, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

The Market

The term ‘performance’ has of course, to be one of the most over-worked words in the motor industry’s language. It’s used to designate everything from a bog-standard family hatchback with stickers, spoilers and a silly name to the kind of Ferrari you’ll be buying with your next lottery win.

Here, we’re going to talk about ‘Performance Sportscars’ in their truest sense. Cars that offer the ultimate in roadgoing excitement. They’re not all Coupes or Convertibles, nor do they all have exotic badges. But all of them will reward their drivers in a way you simply wouldn’t believe. So where to start? Well, for simplicity, we’ve divided what is a very wide category up into three sections.

The first, and most affordable, centres around cars of two types. There are hairy-chested big-bruising roadsters like Chevrolet’s Corvette and the TVR Griffith. And there are properly-sorted, motorsport-inspired versions of more ordinary roadcars. Go for rally-derived models like the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and ultimate versions of the Subaru Impreza or opt for German high-speed fare like BMW’s M3 and M Coupe, Mercedes C Class AMG models or Audi’s RS4.

If you can afford to move up to the next stage of Performance Sportscar motoring, then the stakes get higher. If you need something practical, the Germans can again deliver proper motorsport-tuned versions of their larger executive saloons – cars like the Audi S6, the BMW M5 and the Mercedes E55 AMG. All these will reward the experienced driver but not in the same way as a pure coupe or cabriolet that was developed for the enthusiast from the very beginning. Cars like the Chrysler Viper, the Porsche 911 Carrera, Honda NSX and the last of the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34s.

It’s only at the highest level however, that the product is truly pure, developed for the enthusiast, with almost nothing borrowed from more mundane fare. Most Ferraris, Lamborghinis and later Maseratis and

Picking A Pretty Prestige Car 0

Posted on November 26, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

Sadly I am not a wealthy man. If I harboured dreams of owning a fast car and a country mansion I would likely end up disappointed. However I need not despair; the advent of prestige car hire offers hope for people like me that want to experience the enjoyment of driving a seriously cool car without having to sell a kidney. The following are the three cars that I would go for if I was looking to hire a prestige company car.

Aston Martin DB9

The Aston Martin DB9 was considered so cool by the presenters of Top Gear that they invented a new category on their “cool wall” that categorises the cars they review into “seriously uncool” to sub zero. The DB9 was so popular that they wheeled in a fridge to demonstrate that it was way off their scale and they triumphed the car despite the fact that presenter Jeremy Clarkson owns one.

Aston Martin is synonymous with cool and has long been the choice of James Bond. The car is also the choice for the young sexy women in Hollywood: the DB9 is driven by the character Gabrielle Solis played by Eva Longoria in the US TV series Desperate Housewives.

The DB name stems from the man that owned Aston Martin from the early 40s to mid 60s, David Brown. The DB9 is hand built and the numbers that are made are limited. Buying an Aston Martin DB9 will set you back around 110,850 – 119,850. It can be leased on 48 month business contract hire if you have the 9359.94 deposit and monthly rental fee of 1559.99 that must be paid for 47 months.

Bentley Continental GT

This Grand Tourer coupe is a favourite of celebrities and along with the Chrysler 300 is known as the “Baby Bentley”. The 4 time World Rally Champion Juha Kankkunen used the Bentley Continental to break the World speed record on Ice when he drove it on a section of the frozen Baltic sea near Oulu in Finland. He reached a speed of 207mph which smashed the previous record of
