Wow, Should I Get Samsung Pixon or Nokia Xpressmusic 5800? Which One? 7

Posted on November 27, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

Further to the short video demo that I uploaded yesterday, here is the point by point analysis of the phone. I hope you enjoy it.

Phone Hardware

1. Samsung has clearly taken the pole position in the phone-camera category. In a short span of months, Samsung has pushed out her second 8 megapixals (MP) camera – Samsung M8800 PIXON after i8510 INNOV8. Clearly, no other phones except LG perhaps can come close to Samsung in this area. PIXON is the slimmest phone with a 8 megapixals resolution, a record previously held by LG RENOIR KC910 (a successor to LG KC990 VIEWTY).

2. PIXON is a 3.2 inch touchscreen phone but it’s not the first touchscreen phone launched by Samsung. However unlike OMNIA, M8800 PIXON is not a windows mobile phone. It is also not using Symbian OS which is the OS for INNOV8. Instead, it uses Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz interface (I’ll touch more about the phone OS and applications in the later section)

3. Let’s talk about the camera feature first since this is the key USP for PIXON. The new PIXON is equipped with the core functions that you will find on any Samsung’s low end point and shoot range camera. PIXON’s camera features include auto-focus, 16x digital zoom (which, to me, is pretty useless if you want a high quality shoot. Optical zoom will be much more important), fast-shutter and face detection. And of course, being a phone, it provides the geo-tagging function and easy uploading via the mobile internet.

4. It’s natural that that we compare PIXON to LG RENOIR since both have 8MP camera. While I have not tested LG RENOIR, I learnt from third party sources that RENOIR uses Schneider-Kreuznach lens and Xenon flash. PIXON on the other hand uses plastic lens and dual LED flash. In addition, RENOIR has active autofocus whereas PIXON uses passive autofocus. But the report also commented that camera speed-wise, PIXON has an edge over RENOIR and PIXON has a more friendly

The Nokia X6 is a good social networking device! 0

Posted on November 26, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

A wealth or features have been included in Nokia’s new X6 Smartphone. It has a capacitive 3.2 inch touch screen and a whopping 32GB internal memory, a 5 mega pixel digital camera with Carl Zeiss optics is in place for snap happy users, the phone has great entertainment features and has social network integration. The handset looks good with its rectangle design and feels professional when handling it and it comes in a few colour variants for a broader market appeal.

The X6 runs the functional Symbian OS v9.4 and utilises the S60 5th edition user interface which supplies the TUI with added accuracy when issuing finger commands and the touch sensitive buttons are logically sized for your fingertips to prevent accidental button pressing or missing buttons all together. The device runs quite quickly through its applications and screens as to command it, but the fact that the screen is capacitive and not resistive will play a part also. The TUI brings with it a double tap zoom system which is rather handy for use in the web browser and when viewing images and another nice feature, the X6 will give you a little feedback when you successfully perform a function.

The full collection of Ovi services have been included in to the X6’s software, including the online app store called Ovi store which doesn’t have the biggest range but there are a few worthy additions to your X6, this collection also includes the Ovi Maps an Ovi music store, the music store however is a little redundant as this model as the ComesWithMusic feature which gives you unlimited downloads from a choice of millions of different tracks. So entertainment has been pretty well considered by Nokia, the Nseries music player does a fine enough job organising your tracks and playing them back, covering a range of music file formats and podcasting is also supported, the sound clarity is first-rate in high and mid frequencies and there is a good thump in the base, the sound quality is

The Nokia C6 is an accomplished messaging tool, combining a bright touch sensitive screen with a full QWERTY keyboard! 0

Posted on November 26, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

The C6 is the new slide QWERTY keyboard handset from Nokia; the phone comes with a large 3.2 inch nHD touch sensitive display with a built-in accelerometer for auto rotation when you have the device in landscape mode for messaging. A digital camera, multimedia player and FM radio have been thrown in to support the phones entertainment features and the C6’s reliable 3G network and Wi Fi connectivity support your web activity and the social networking client.

Here we have a pretty looking phone which is available in either a slick black or an icy white, the QWERTY keyboard slides out from the back to the left of the screen, flip your phone round and you get a landscape perspective of the user interface which allows for quick typing when messaging or e-mailing. E-mail accounts such as Yahoo!, WindowsLive, Hotmail and G-Mail can all be managed from the C6 and you also have access to Nokia’s free e-mail account called Ovi Mail which has 1GB of mail storage. Other Ovi services support the C6; you can visit the Ovi Store and download apps, games, wallpapers and themes, Ovi Maps delivers weather information and is quite a handy route planner too. You can check up on your friends and family via Ovi Contacts and finally the Ovi Music store; speaking for itself, you can download the latest tracks from your favourite artists and store them in your music player.

A nice feature Nokia have been adding to all of there phones including the C6; the home screen can be fully customized to suite its users needs and life pattern, along with background and theme changes you can also place widgets for social network updates from sites like Facebook, widgets for your e-mail inboxes, your calendar and your music, this means you can have everything you need brought right to the surface. The C6 makes the most of its Symbian 9.4 version operating system and the S60 5th edition overlay creates a great user experience all around.

A full Ovi package has been put
