Ain’t That America
A Spirit That Refuses to Die
How did John Cougar Mellencamp and I become such bitter enemies? No, I have never met the man, but I despise his politics even as I love his music. And while his celebrity makes him very familiar to me, he has no inkling of my existence, even though he equally loathes my political philosophy, as far as his interviews have betrayed.
I have been hit hard today from two directions. The obvious assumption would be that those directions are polar opposites, but that is not the case. I just finished reading chapter one of George W. Bush’s Decision Points, and took a break to watch Glenn Beck. I mention this because I no longer care what my critics may say nor how they may scoff sneeringly at my words. Such scorn has lost all meaning as our path has become clear to me.
Those of us who care enough to publish our thoughts share a common thread; we love this country too much to see it perish. The only barrier to cooperation has been a decided line of demarcation set for us by powerful ideologues who have manipulated us toward opposite corners of the ring. Divide and conquer…sound familiar?
Glenn Beck has been talking about the small town of Wilmington, Ohio, a town that should have been declared dead due to its rate of unemployment, but which has refused to succumb to extinction. Wilmington, through its collective, stubborn determination has instead relied on the principles that made America what it became through the same ethic. They are not waiting for the behemoth of the federal

Biography
Early life and career
The son of a lorry driver, Bolan grew up in post-war Hackney, East London, amongst a Jewish family, and later lived in Wimbledon, southwest London. He fell in love with the rock and roll of Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Arthur Crudup and Chuck Berry[citation needed] at an early age and became a Mod, hanging around coffee bars such as the 2 I’s in Soho. He appeared in an episode of the television show Orlando as a Mod extra.
At the age of nine, Bolan was given his first guitar and began a skiffle band shortly after, and at fifteen, he left school “by mutual consent.”

He briefly joined a modelling agency and became a “John Temple Boy,” appearing in a clothing catalogue for the menswear store. He was used as a model for their suits in their catalogues as well as a model for cardboard cut-outs to be displayed in shop windows. “TOWN” Magazine featured him as an early example of the Mod movement in a photo spread with a couple of other “faces”.
Marc Feld had changed his name to Toby Tyler when he met and moved in with child actor Allan Warren, who was to become his first manager. Warren saw Toby Tyler’s potential whilst Toby spent hours sitting cross-legged on Warren’s floor playing his acoustic guitar. Warren then took him to the photographer Michael McGrath and commissioned a series of photographs. Warren then hired a recording studio and had Bolan’s first acetates cut. One track being the Bob Dylan song ‘ Blowing in the wind’. Also a version of Betty Everett’s “You’re No Good” which was later submitted to EMI for a test screening but they turned down the then Toby Tyler. Warren later sold Marc’s contract and recordings for 200.00 to his landlord, property mogul David Kirch, in lieu of three months back rent. Kirch was far too busy with his property empire to do anything for him. A year or so later,

Christmas Is Dead
The day of Light is gone for this year. All of the world’s major religions recognize this sacred season of winter holidays as representing a time of Renewal, Light and Vitality. Islam’s month of Ramadan – when Holy Quran sent down heaven as guidance for man and a means of salvation. Some Buddhists celebrate Dec 8 as the day the Buddha received enlightenment. Judaism celebrates Hanukkah -festival of lights. Pagans celebrate Yule on Winter Solstice – birth of new Sun King. We celebrate Christmas as more than the birth of Jesus who was one of the world’s best known teachers -in fact a true master. Christmas for us is about the awakening of the Christ Consciousness.
In spite of all the fine rhetoric about spiritualiy, brotherhood and compassion, we remain divisive, petty, narrow minded and poverty stricken in spirit.I talk of this as a reaction to a Christmas CD I produced and offered to Temples, Unity Churches and various organization of a religious nature.
This new compact disc, entitled “A Christmas Gift,” contains works by noted composers including Irving Berlin, Sammy Cahn, and Kurt Weill. But what is unique about the CD and the reason for this message is the inclusion of Eli, Eli and Kol Nidre. Few popular music singers, if any, can bring a dramatic and emotional rendering of these two traditional songs of the Jewish faith. This is one of the highlights on the CD as they are seldom performed in a secular music environment. Included in this collection are traditional Christmas favorites such as Oh Christmas Tree, White Christmas, and Christmas Waltz. Expanding the spirit of Christmas to go beyond the usual commercial CD, Pyatt includes songs of deep faith such as I Believe, Ave Maria, and Bless This House.
“I took time to carefully select songs that would be appropriate to the season and to the need for feelings that inspire and give deeper
