The God of Christmas 25

Posted on December 21, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

If I were to ask you, “what time of the year will you find the most drunkenness, revelry, lying, covertness, volunteer indebtedness, immoral activates and hypocrisy than any other time,” what would your answer be? If you are like most people, you would not hesitate to say “Christmas”. The sad truth is, this is what Christmas has become in our society today. Now I know that there are many Christians who take time out of their Christmas day to read about the birth of Christ, and to sing a few “Christmas” songs. I know that many Christians send out “Christmas” cards with bible verses on them, and I know that some even spend part of Christmas Eve going around singing from house to house. Yet, given the importance of this event, these activities seem to be less Christ honoring then what they should. After all, isn’t Christmas supposed to be about the birth of Jesus Christ? Isn’t it supposed to be “all about Him?”

During this time of year, many well meaning Christians will use phrases like, “Jesus is the reason for the season”, and “lets put Christ back in Christmas”. But, the truth is, Christ was never in Christmas. Christmas is a holiday shared and celebrated by many religions, and even pre-dates the birth of Christ. The spirit of Christmas causes people to decorate their homes and churches, cut down trees and bring them into their homes, decking them with silver and gold. In the light of that tree, families make merry and give gifts one to another. On Dec. 24, families, friends and churches prepare for participation in customs such as burning the Yule log, singing around the decorated tree, kissing under the mistletoe and holly, and attending a late night service or midnight mass. But, where did Christmas come from? What is the meaning of Christmas? Where did the customs and traditions originate? Surely you, as a Christian, would want to worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth, discerning good from evil.

The date of December 25th comes from

Celebrity Rehab Does Not Work 0

Posted on December 08, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

Getting celebrities mentally strong, focused and ready to inspire a generation. That is our role as those working close with these A list celebrities. Why is it that we keep seeing these celebrities in and out of rehab? The celebrity is obviously repeating the same behaviour over and over again. All human behaviour is based on patterns. So why do we still not stop these patterns? As I have stated in previous keynotes, our psychological patterns are like cd’s. You can remove negative cd’s and play empowering cd’s. So why do we not help our celebs make long tern changes rather than simply throw them in and out of rehab over and over again?

The challenge I have with a lot of the rehab clinics is that they’re not designed to really deal with the celebrity deep seated issue. They simply put the celebrity with other people who have also have an addiction and intend that if they cut off the connections to the drugs, they get better.

How many times does a celebrity transformation follow with ‘celebrity are back in rehab.

Why?

They don’t deal with the real reason that the celebrity is motivated to do the drugs, alcohol, sex addiction in the first place.

It’s like a leak from the bathroom tap. Therapy keeps mopping up the water off the floor until it’s bareable, and then when it overflows, it needs mopping up again. Fix the cause. Find out where the leak is, and fix it at source. This not only prevents the need for mopping but also streamlines the entire plumbing system water pressure.

There are two causes of addiction.

Cause for addiction No1. Once you get into the cycle, what’s addicting the celebrity is the neurological chemical attraction where your brain and your body is saying ‘I need it, I need it, I want it.’

Cause for addiction No 2. The thing that drove the celebrity to begin the habit was some other need that hasn’t been met or fulfilled – whether that need is to escape a pain or the need to

Neil Peart 0

Life and career

Early life

Peart was born on his family’s farm in Hagersville, on the outskirts of Hamilton. The first child of four, his brother Danny and sisters Judy and Nancy were born after the family moved to St. Catharines when Peart was two. At this time his father became parts manager for Dalziel Equipment, a farm machinery supplier. In 1956 the family moved to the Port Dalhousie area of the town. Peart attended Gracefield School, and describes his childhood as happy and says he experienced a warm family life. By early adolescence he became interested in music and acquired a transistor radio, which he would use to tune into pop music stations broadcasting from Toronto, Hamilton and Welland, Ontario and Buffalo, USA.

His first exposure to musical training came in the form of piano lessons, which he later said in his instructional video A Work in Progress did not have much impact on him. He had a penchant for drumming on various objects around the house with a pair of chopsticks, so for his 13th birthday, his parents bought him a pair of drum sticks, a practice pad and some lessons, with the promise that if he stuck with it for a year, they would buy him a kit.

His parents bought him a drum kit for his 14th birthday and he began taking lessons from Don George at the Peninsula Conservatory of Music. His stage debut took place that year at the school’s Christmas pageant in St. Johns Anglican Church Hall in Port Dalhousie. His next appearance was at Lakeport High School with his first group, The Eternal Triangle. This performance contained an original number entitled “LSD Forever”. At this show he performed his first solo.

Peart got a job in Lakeside Park, a fairground on the shores of Lake Ontario, which later inspired a song of the same name on the Rush album Caress of Steel. He worked on the Bubble Game and Ball Toss, but his tendency to take it easy when business was slack resulted in his termination. By his late
