Posted on December 04, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

This year to ring in the Christmas season, head down to Johnson City for the 21st Annual Lights Spectacular for the annual lighting of the courthouse and Pedernales Electric Cooperative office in downtown Johnson City. Events will start Friday night and run through Saturday evening with plenty of fun activities for the whole family including a special appearance by Santa himself.

Afterwards make sure that you are near the courthouse to watch the official lighting of the courthouse. Did you know that courthouse is decorated each year with 100,000 lights? After admiring the courthouse walk down to Avenue F to see the one million light display (Yes! The Black Country Christmas Song 25

Posted on December 02, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

Based on the Twelve Days Of Christmas, a T-Shirt business in the Black Country known as TeeT Shirts have produced ‘The Black Country Christmas Song’.

Based in the little Black Country town of Cradley Heath TeeT Shirts have used local Black Country Dialect and Black Country humour to completely change the traditional song and make their own local Black Country version.

The words and meaning are as follows:

On the first day of Christmas
in the black country,
A bostin cup o tay.

On the second day of Christmas,
in the black country
Two lovely faggots,
And a bostin cup o tay.

On the third day of Christmas,
in the black country
Three sacks of taters,
Two lovely faggots,
And a bostin cup o tay.

On the fourth day of Christmas,
in the black country
Four pints of bitter,
Three sacks of taters,
Two lovely faggots,
And a bostin cup o tay.

On the fifth day of Christmas,
in the black country
Five random things,
Four pints of bitter,
Three sacks of taters,
Two lovely faggots,
And a bostin cup o tay.

On the sixth day of Christmas,
in the black country
Six yampy whammels,
Five random things,
Four pints of bitter,
Three sacks of taters,
Two lovely faggots,
And a bostin cup o tay.
