Christmas candles are a one most common type of christmas celebration displace darkness, fetch in the lights. The Candles precisely symbolize, the almighty himself. Christ is the light of the world and when we see these Christmas candles, we are reminded of him. To welcome new seasons and as a symbol of the Sun, candles were being used from the time immemorial. The first time when Candles were illuminated throughout Christmas was in Rome during the festival of Saturnalia. The tall wax candles were talented to Saturn as a symbol of his light. With the passageway of time as the Christianity gained popularity, the practice of lighting candles in front of the window started. The idea was to guide the Christ child as he moved from house to house on Christmas. Sweden still continues the tradition.  

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, published in 1843, and was not only one of his best loved works but also of the Christianity world. We use lights, colors, ornaments, wreaths, garlands, stars and the Christmas tree to add more and more loveliness to the homes. The grand and magical-looking christmas symbols are undeniably the highlight of these decorations. Today, people keep addition to the list with fancy lights and musical decors but the ones that are original and made by one’s own hands and the most favorite ones

Dallas Events – Go to the Place That’s Larger Than Life 11

They say that everything is bigger in Texas and that seems to be true of the different events that take place throughout the Dallas – Fort Worth area. Dallas plays hosts to thousands of events each year so chances are that when you visit Dallas, there will be something going on.

Some of the annual events that you can participate in or observe when you visit Dallas include the following.

Help The Homeless WalkAThon

The annual drive to help the homeless takes place on the second Saturday of November of each year. The event starts off at the Dallas City Hall and features a walk as well as musical performances at the end of the charity walk. The proceeds for the WalkAThon are to help the homeless living in Dallas. The Help The Homeless WalkAThon began a few years ago and has been gaining momentum.

Children’s Christmas Parade

The Children’s Christmas Parade takes place the first Saturday in December down Commerce Street and is sponsored by Neiman Marcus. While it cannot compare to the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, this is all about children and all about Santa and raises funds for the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. The parade is often featured on TV and is an annual event for many Texas families. More than 350,000 people crowd to downtown Dallas to watch this parade.

Quilt Festival

If you enjoy looking at some of the most beautiful quilts in the country, you will enjoy the Dallas Quilts Festival that is held every year at the Irving Arts Center in Downtown Dallas. The event takes place on the first Sunday of February of each year. The quilts that are displayed are art quilts that have been hand designed by various quilting artists. The Quilt Festival is one of the better known in the country and features quilt from some of the best known quilting artists.

Any Color as Long as it is Green: St. Patrick’s Day Events 0

Although in Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day is a holy day and not a day for vast celebrating, in the United States, this is one of the biggest party days of the year. This is especially true in cities such as Boston, New York and Chicago, all of which have a huge Irish American heritage. Most of the St. Patrick’s Day events include parades and parties. Most of the parades are attended by local politicians who often state that this is a day when everyone is Irish.

Boston St. Patrick’s Day Events

Boston is one of the cities where there are the most St. Patrick’s Day events such as parties in bars and a large parade. The Boston Commons hosts Irish Dancers in the park as well as Irish foods and music during this day, no matter what the weather. There is the large St. Patrick’s Day parade through the heart of the city that is attended by dignitaries from Boston as well as Massachusetts.

Other St. Patrick’s Day events that take place in Boston include parties in local pubs and bars. Green beer is a substance that is sold by the mug on this day. The beer is tinted green with food coloring. Corned beef and cabbage is made on this day in pubs as Irish fare is served to the masses.

New York St. Patrick’s Day Events

Broadway comes alive for St. Patrick’s Day as the parade takes place throughout the city and is second only to the Macy Thanksgiving Day parade. Politicians make it their business to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade that ends up in Central Park each year. Central Park also hosts Irish dance and music throughout the park during the week leading up to St. Patrick’s Day.

Not all of the parades take place in Manhattan. There is also a Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day parade that takes place in this borough the week before St. Patrick’s Day. This parade, although not as much
