Posted on March 15, 2011 by Jennib And Friends

Is your phone dying for a better ringtone? A good ringtone represents your personality. There are so many places that you can get, buy or download ring tones from. Making of ringtones too is easy. But, before even thinking of how you are going to make your own ringtones, you need to have a collection already. So how are you going to have this collection? It all starts with downloading new music to your cell phone.

Downloading of ringtones has been made easier and cheaper due to the advancement of technology. You can actually travel with your music, allocate different ringtones to different callers, share your music through MMS and Bluetooth. Well, the list is endless. Before downloading or starting to share your ringtones, you need to know a few of these things:

Know the make, model and number of your phone as well as the service provider. Different ringtones have different formats some of which are not supported by some make of phone. Some phones support monophonic ringtones, others polyphonic and the rest, MP3 ringtones. Make sure that your phone has features that can support the type of ringtone you want to download. Your service provider may add additional charges when downloading. You should therefore be aware of these charges too.

Search widely for ringtones from online bases. You can also ask friends who have downloaded ringtones and ask them to recommend you to the best sites. The best place to start searching from is the website of your service provider. The site may have free ringtones that are even unavailable to other sites, and you are guaranteed of its safety and services. Some sites may allow free downloads but in exchange for your personal contacts and phone numbers. Beware because some of them may have a hidden agenda.

Once you get the right ringtone, download it to your mobile phone. Fill in all the information required to make the downloading process complete i.e. the name of your service provider, country of origin and her code, cell number and the phone’s model. Filing in the information before beginning the downloading saves you from downloading ringtones that are not supported by your phone. The site will inform you before hand, whether the ringtone is compatible and downloading will begin. However, if the site does not offer the ringtones for free, information on billing will have to be filled.

When done with the filing of information, click/press on the download tool and downloading will begin. Your ringtone confirmation will be confirmed through a text message. Other sites will begin to download the ringtone until the process is 100% complete and the service asks you to confirm on the location where you intend to save your message, e.g. music folder, phone memory or in the memory card.

The paid for ringtones range from $ .99 to .00. The price charge depends on the tone quality, the genre of the tone, the site from which it has been downloaded from or the deal.

Issues Stemming From Free Music to Download 4

Posted on December 04, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

Ever Since the rise of the digital music era, major record labels have been running around aimlessly trying to refrain people from getting their hands on the latest free music to download…but what have they accomplished really?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the people interested in finding free music to download are the very same people that have been bringing in billions of dollars in revenue to the music industry. So why is the RIAA leading a witch hunt to crucify people interested in free music to download? The answer is simple. Based on most peoples opinions, the RIA has lost touch with reality and is obviously having a difficult time trying to addapt to change

It’s no big secret…everybody wants to get their hands on the latest free music to download and it would probably make more sense if the record industry was to develop a new business model that caters to individuals who are constantly looking for new music to download, then develop a way to profit from the situation.

Working out agreements with internet service providers is one potential solution. Wouldn’t it make sense if the music industry was to work out some kind of blanket license like they currently do with radio stations, but then do the same thing with internet service providers, which would allow them to give people access to unlimited free music to download? There are probably many more potential solutions but the question becomes, why don’t the major labels want to give people free music to download if they could possibly benefit from doing so?
