Free Versus Paid Ringtones 0

Posted on April 15, 2011 by Jennib And Friends

Many people wonder what the difference is between paying for ringtones and getting them for free.

Many people wonder what the difference is between paying for ringtones and getting them for free.  When searching for ringtones there are certain things that are important to us.  First is price and second is a having a large selection to choose from.  From there, important factors are quality of the ringtone and ease of use.

The use of ringtones is dependent on licensing.  All songs are licensed and there are royalty fees associated.  Companies that offer ringtones are paying those licensing fees and therefore the cost is passed on to you.  Most sites offer a yearly flat fee with unlimited downloads, making it easier for users to join and downloads the ringtones they love.  The reason why some ringtones are free is that their licensing has expired over time and they are now open to the public.  These songs are mostly older songs, but still songs we love or remember.  If you like oldies but goodies, you can get a vast array of free ringtones.

But if like the top artists of today, then chances are you are going to pay for your ringtones.  Another way to get ringtones is to download your MP3’s to your phone.  Even though you are probably paying sites such as iTunes to download your MP3’s, they can now have a multipurpose.  You can use those songs as your ringtones as well as for listening to and creating your own playlists.  Mobile phones now operate as MP3 players, removing the need for a separate MP3 player.  With the download fees associated with getting your music that you listen to everyday, now having a second use, those fees are now well worth it.  You are getting a double bang for your buck.

Ringtones are an industry in themselves.  The demand for ringtones has grown by leaps and bounds from the days of polyphonic tones offered in the past.  What once was just a way to differentiate your own phone from others that were ringing is now a full blown self expression.  Ringtones can be assigned to different contacts in your phone, eliminating the need to even look at your phone to identify the caller.  You’ll know who is calling while sitting on your couch as your mobile phone is on the charger on your desk.

Identifying Unsafe Free Ringtone Downloads From Websites With Free Ringtones 25

Posted on January 02, 2011 by Jennib And Friends

On the Internet, there are many sites that provide free ringtones. Collectively, there are thousands of free ringtones on the internet. There are so many in fact, that you can actually make a category from it. There are categories per artists, per genre, per country and lots more. But these are more specific. Generally, you can only choose two basic formats in free ringtones. They are monotones and polytones. They are also known as monophonic and polyphonic but all have the same meanings. The monotones or monophonic are ringtones that use a series of notes (one after the other only) to comprise a tune. Polytones or polyphonic on the other hand, uses many musical notes at one time. This type of ringtone is created using sequenced recording method, for example the MIDI. The more advanced among the two is the polyphonic. You can get free ringtone downloads of both tones online.

What to Be Wary Of

There are many sites that offer free ringtone downloads. However, since it is free and can be downloaded online, it could be unsafe. For this reason, it is important to use a trusted site that recommends or provides links to the safest ringtone download sites online. There are many sites out there that can cause damage to your computer if you download ringtones. It could also be that the site that you enter into can be a scam. Others even cause some viruses to enter your unit when you download. What you need to do is to be wary about this, and use sites that are recommended from other reputable sites. To be sure that you get safe free ringtone downloads, you can follow the tips below:

Always read about the site. You need to see if they offer an authenticated service. As much as possible, do not only attracted with the offer of free ringtones. Read all about the site first that offers free ringtones and see the authenticity of their service before you download. Avoid scams. You will know that a site is a scam when it requires you to download spyware or other programs that could be unsafe for you. It may carry bugs and viruses. Try to look for sites that offer free ringtones instead of the required membership fee. Ringtones are just accessories to the computer and do not necessarily need to cost a lot. If you find a site that requires a membership fee, be convinced of the benefits for being a member first. Remember there are plenty of sites that offer free ringtone downloads so you must check what you will gain if you pay a certain amount of money for it. Be aware that certain free ringtone downloads can only be downloaded when it is compatible with your unit. Motorola phones, for instance, have certain free ringtones that can be downloaded to the unit. If your phone is Motorola, look for free ringtones for a Motorola unit to be completely safe. You can also find guides and wizards in the download to the unit making it easy and safe.

The important thing to remember is that not all websites that offer free ringtones are safe. For this reason, always ‘do your homework’ by checking and rechecking the authenticity of the websites. Use sites that are recommended or contain links on other reputable and complementary websites. If you don’t, you might get carried away with the enticing promise of being free, and readily jump to the conclusion that you can have the ringtone safely. These awareness tips and some of the tips that you may find on the internet will keep you from damaging you unit in the long run.

A Leadership Primer On Celebrations 0

Posted on December 10, 2010 by Jennib And Friends

In talking with leaders over the years, I`ve noticed that most seem to struggle with celebrations.

Some struggle with when to celebrate. Some struggle with why they should. And some don`t have a struggle because they don`t celebrate at all. (Here the struggle is for those they lead!)

Unlike many other leadership topics, there doesn`t seem to be much of a consensus on the topic. People range from one end of the spectrum to the other – from we don`t need a reason to celebrate to we don`t have time to celebrate.

This article is meant to address some of the questions and challenges, and perhaps provide some balance to the discussion.

Why We Should Celebrate

Celebrations in general (forget about the workplace for a minute) typically are organized to recognize, reward, rejuvenate, relax and/or to have some real fun. Because we are human beings at work, we need to remember that all of these reasons have validity on the job too.

You`ve heard the old axiom that says people spend more time at work than they do with their families? Guess what, unless you work with your family, it`s true.

So, if celebration is at some level a human need, why wouldn`t we incorporate that into work?

Too new-agey or humanistic for you? Let me be more bottom-line for you:

Properly done, celebrations will improve morale, improve productivity, reduce stress, reduce turnover and improve Customer Service.

If you are in the “we don`t need to celebrate” camp, any one of these should be reason enough to reconsider. Taking them all together should make it an easy call.

Why We Don`t Celebrate
I hear many reasons for not celebrating on the job. Here`s a partial list:

We haven`t succeeded yet.
We haven`t reached the goal yet.
The project isn`t finished yet.
Nothing happened
I expected we`d make that target.
We don`t have time.
We don`t have the resources.
No one wants to
